LANGUAGE & SOUND VISUALISATION
The cantonese space is a project about language visualisation. In the guangdong region of china, where fewer and fewer people are willing to communicate in cantonese, the initial aim of this project was to popularise the language in a fun and interactive way. I therefore focused the language visualisation on the most basic of pronunciations, using lines to show the tendency of the 9 tones to spread and change in sound when pronounced. The final exhibition is set in an enclosed mirrored space where the audience can have both a visual and auditory experience.
